Trucks on Iowa’s roads have a 60-day weight limit exemption to help in hauling this year’s harvest. Governor Terry Branstad signed a proclamation, putting the exemption into effect for 60 days from September 20th, increasing the weight allowable for shipment of corn, hay, soybeans, straw and stover by 12.5% per axle without the need of an oversize permit. This applies to loads on all highways in the state, excluding the interstate system. Harvest of some crops has begun in southeast Iowa.
