A potent rushing attack assisted the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (1-0 overall) to a season opening victory. The Cobras traveled to Packwood Friday for a non-district clash versus the Pekin Panthers (0-1 overall). Sigourney-Keota compiled 238 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns on their way to a 42-20 win over Pekin.

Sophomore Carson Crawford accounted for 110 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns. Senior Avery Moore added 77 yards on the ground and two scores.

The Cobras’ defense forced four turnovers, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Moore returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown. Junior Jack Eakins had the other Cobra interception, running it 25 yards. Crawford and senior Tanner Bos each recovered a fumble.
