Bridget Seip Dawson originally of Sigourney, who had her life cut short on July 14th of 2016 is being memorialized with a scholarship named in her honor.

Dawson, a 58 year old world class triathelete, recent United States Duathlon Champion, former Sigourney high school state track champion and former cross country national champion at Iowa State University was killed when her bicycle was struck from behind by a motorist who drifted onto the shoulder. The accident occurred on Highway 227 North of San Luis Obispo, California. The scholarship will support young women in triathlons and other athletic endeavors. Her memorial service was held Monday, August 8th at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon.
