Head coach Kara Suchow and the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team ended the 2016 season with a 12-23 overall record.
Their best stretch of the season came early in June when they won five out of six contests including beating ranked teams in Northeast Gooselake and Cascade. Offensively, the Golden Hawks finished third in the River Valley Conference with a team batting average of .323. The Golden Hawks were sixth in the league with 148 RBI. Their 196 runs scored were also sixth most.
In the circle, Mid-Prairie was seventh in the conference with a team ERA of 4.86. Their 73 recorded strikeouts were also seventh best.
Individually the Golden Hawks were led at the plate by Alex Rath, who finished with a team and River Valley Conference best average of .509, that number was also ninth best in the state. Her on base percentage of .575 was also the best in the conference and ninth in the state. Her 41 runs scored were best on the team. Amber Kral led the Golden Hawks and River Valley Conference with 50 RBI. She has led the league in that category each of the last three seasons.
In the circle the Golden Hawks were led by Cassidy Rourke who threw a team high 127 innings, recorded a team best 10 wins, and struck out 34 hitters to lead Mid-Prairie. Abby Tornow led the Hawks with a 3.98 ERA. The Golden Hawks ended their season in the first round of regional play.
