The U.S. Drought Monitor reports 30.71% of Iowa is abnormally dry and 2.52% is in moderate drought at this time, similar to last week’s standings. The area in moderate drought is in south central Iowa, in Clarke, Lucas, Monroe, Decatur, Wayne and Appanoose counties. The data gathered was through Tuesday, and doesn’t not include the recent rainfall in the area. At this time last year, 13.6% of the state was abnormally dry with less than a percent in moderate drought.
