Over 9,000 meals were served at Lincoln Elementary School in Washington this summer as part of the lunch program. The lunches are open to anyone in the community and are free for anyone under the age of 18. Adult meals are $3.50. Veta Thode with the district reported at the recent school board meeting that in June 5,473 kids were fed and 3,484 children were served in July. In June, 248 adults partook and 183 had lunch in July.
Another service the district provided was transportation, including stops in Brighton and then in Washington at Stewart Elementary, HACAP, the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center, YMCA and Lincoln Elementary. In total, 1,687 students used the transportation and nearly 300 adults.
