The school year is quickly approaching with less than three weeks until classes start in the Washington School District and elementary principal Adam Miller has some tips for parents to get their kids ready. Miller is the principal at Stewart Elementary School and shares starting school for the first time can be scary to some students but he advises talking about it excitedly and the fun things like recess, lunch, seeing friends and learning can help.

He adds now is the time to get students on a sleep schedule so getting them ready for school in the morning is easier. And he recommends continuing to read aloud with children at home is a great way to get prepared.

Stewart is hosting a meet the teachers night to help families get acquainted with the building and staff. Meet the teachers night at Stewart is being held Monday, August 22nd from 4 – 6 p.m.
