Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and Pikachu are just a few of the Pokemon Go creatures that can be found in Washington with the new virtual reality game. The game that can be downloaded onto a smartphone is like a scavenger hunt where players work to collect as many of the creatures from the animated TV show that first aired in the U.S. In 1998. Austin Kirkey explains the game is helping to get people active, as the game makes players go to different areas and walk to find Pokemon. Also to hatch eggs with rare creatures, players have to walk a certain distance and the kilometers are measured by the smartphone.
One place in Washington that has seen an increase in foot-traffic due to the game is the Washington Public Library, director Debbie Stanton explains, they’ve had many people come in to the library to track and find Pokemon and it is also a Pokestop. She says Pokemon trainers are welcome to come in to the library, adding they have a display of all of their Pokemon materials.
There are at least 142 Pokemon monsters in the game and the goal is to catch ’em all.
