Pigs, goats, chickens, corn, cows and milk are all part of Little Hands on the Farm, an exhibit at the Washington County Fair presented by the Elite 4-H team teaches kids where their food comes from. Hannah VanRoekel shares they hope children between the ages of 2 and 10 learn about agriculture and where their food comes from with crops and livestock. It is a hands on experience. Children go through the round barn on the fairgrounds and learn first about chickens and eggs, with live chickens as part of the exhibit. They then follow the path to meet a goat and get a chance to milk a model cow. Next they get a chance to pet a pig. The tour finishes with children learning what different products are made from the crops and livestock found on farms. Little Hands on the Farm was open throughout the fair and is open again today from 4 to 7 p.m.
