With warm temperatures and mostly clear days so far this summer the Washington Steele Family Aquatic Center has been a busy destination for people looking to cool off. Becky Harkema, director of the YMCA, tells KCII News they’re averaging 300 people a day during open swim times. She adds they have 134 family passes and 36 single passes for a total of 763 people with season passes to the pool.

The pool has been closed three days this season and they’ve had over 12,000 visits to the pool, before tallying the swim lesson students and swim team members at practice. The YMCA manages the facility and it is open from 1 to 8 p.m. daily.
