A pair of playoff openers will take place tonight in Riverside. The Highland Huskies’ baseball team (20-6 overall) won 20 regular season games, earning the top seed and hosting rights for the Class 1A District 10 bracket.
Southeast Conference opponents the Lone Tree Lions (10-12 overall) and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (6-13 overall) will start the postseason doubleheader with first pitch set for 5 p.m. The regular season meeting between the teams took place on June 3 in Winfield with the Lions defeating the Wolves, 8-1.
The nightcap has the Huskies opening their playoff run versus the Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders (1-16 overall) at 7 p.m. The two teams met during the regular season on June 2 in West Point with Highland winning, 13-5, over Holy Trinity.
The winner of the two games will meet in the district semifinal round Thursday at 7 p.m. at Highland High School.
