Corn in southeast Iowa is ahead of most of the state in its progress for the season. According to the most recent Crop Progress and Condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, across the Hawkeye State six percent of corn is silking while in the southeast corner 10% of the crop is silking. In Iowa corn is rated at 17% fair, 61% good and 18% excellent. In southeast Iowa 18% of soybeans are blooming, ahead of the five-year average. Soybeans across the state are rated at 18% fair, 63% good and 14% excellent.
