In a game dominated by offense, the Pekin Panthers outslugged the Iowa Mennonite School baseball team 15-12.
Pekin scored first with three runs in the top of the first, IMS scored one in the bottom half and four in the second to take a 5-3 lead. Pekin tied it with a pair in the top of the third and IMS scored two of their own in the bottom half to go up 7-5. The Panthers got five in the fifth and jumped up 10-7. IMS scored once in the bottom half to get within 10-8 while Pekin put up three in the top half to lead 13-8. IMS continued to push, getting within 13-9 going to the seventh where the Panthers scored two insurance runs in the top half. Trailing 15-9 going into their last at bat IMS did not go quietly, they scored three times but the rally came up short. On the night IMS was led by Noah Bruns who was two for three with three RBI and a run scored, Reggie Borntrager was two for three with three RBI and a run scored. With the loss IMS falls to 3-6 on the year.
