The struggles continued Tuesday night for the Washington Demon softball team (2-10 overall). As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons welcomed the No. 6 Oskaloosa Indians (9-1 overall) to Washington High School for a pair of non-conference contests. The Indians left Washington with two victories, taking game one, 6-3, and game two, 9-0.
Oskaloosa’s pitching duo of senior Kylee Silliman and junior Alexis Groet combined to strike out the Demons 27 times. Silliman, who came into the game with 15 total strikeout in 10 innings, fanned 15 batters for a complete game victory in the opener.
Washington produced three runs on 10 hits over the course of the night. Sophomore Brooke Stout and eighth grader Kinsey Duwa each recorded a double and scored a run for the Demons.
Washington’s losing streak expands to eight games. The Demons resume Southeast Conference play tomorrow, traveling to Henry County for two games with the No. 5 Mount Pleasant Panthers (10-1 overall).
