For the first time in five seasons, the Keota Eagle baseball team (4-2 overall) has strung together a four-game winning streak. Two years removed from back-to-back 0-21 seasons, the Eagles have won four of their first six games to start this year’s campaign. It’s the best start to a season for Keota since 2011, when they finished 15-7 overall.

A key factor in the Eagles winning streak has been their execution at the plate. After scoring one run in their first two contests, the Eagles have plated 45 runs over the last four games.

Sophomore Luke Greiner has driven in a team-best eight runs, and is tied with senior Tyler Verstrate for the team lead in hits with eight. Senior Zach Mousel leads Keota on the mound, posting a 3-1 overall record with an earned run average of 1.11 in 19 innings.

Keota returns to the diamond tonight, hosting the North Mahaska Warhawks (3-5 overall) in a South Iowa Cedar League matchup.
