The annual handicapped fishing event is coming back to Marr Park this Wednesday. The Chicaqua Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is hosting the event, which began in the mid-1960’s. Organizer Don Pfeiffer described the event as having both physically and mentally handicapped people of all ages and most look forward to the event. He said fishing poles and bait are provided for those who don’t have them, and there will be many volunteers helping in various capacities.

In addition to fishing, those in attendance will be served a pork burger lunch at noon. After the lunch, fishing will continue and the event will finish with a small awards ceremony. Prizes will be given out for largest fish of each species, smallest fish, and most unusual fish. Pfeiffer expects a turnout of around 130 people. He encourages anyone who would like to come out and help to do so.
