The Mid-Prairie softball team will make the trip to Iowa City Friday for day one of the Iowa City West Softball classic hosted on the campus of the University of Iowa.

The Golden Hawks enter the event with a 2-4 overall record. Mid-Prairie is led on the year by Alex Rath at the plate. The future Hawkeye is hitting .579 with eight runs scored and six RBI. Amber Kral is hitting .474 with three doubles and eight driven in. In the circle Cassidy Rourke and Kirsten Duwa have split time for the Hawks. Rourke is 2-1 with a 4.88 ERA in 14 innings of work. Duwa is 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA in eight innings. The Hawks will matchup first with the Davenport Assumption Knights at 1PM.

The Knights are 5-1 entering today’s game. Their lone loss was a 3-2 setback against Bettendorf on Tuesday. Assumption is led by Hannah Kelley at the plate. She is hitting .571 with eight RBI and four runs scored. In the circle the Knights are led by Kelley with her 21 innings pitched, 1.33 ERA and 21 strikeouts. Assumption is currently rated No. 3 in class 3A.

In game two Mid-Prairie will see class 5A Muscatine. The Muskies are a perfect 4-0 this season recently sweeping the Clinton River Queens in a doubleheader. Muscatine is led by Catie Cole who is hitting .667 with seven runs scored and three RBI. In the circle the Muskies Kaitlyn Bierman is 3-0 on the season and has yet to surrender a run.
