The special election for the issuance of bonds up to $3 million for the new YMCA building project in Washington will be held August 2nd. The $10.4 million building will include a six lane pool. At Tuesday’s meeting, the Washington City Council approved a resolution calling for a special election and it passed on a vote of 4-2, with Russ Zieglowsky and Kerry Janecek voting against the motion.
Zieglowsky stated he supports the YMCA, but he has to be responsible with tax dollars. Councilman Jaron Rosien said the special election allows the residents of Washington a chance to voice their opinion by voting.
The council also approved a development agreement with the YMCA that requires the YMCA to submit an annual copy of their 990 financial report with the city.
