In a pair of games heard on KCII, the Golden Hawks took the first matchup 3-1, behind a complete game performance from senior Ace Adam Schrock on the hill. He went all seven, allowing just two hits, one run, walking one and striking out four. The Hawks big inning was the fourth, they scored three times on a pair of hits and two Durant errors in the frame. The big hit was a Jacob Leonard two out, two RBI single.
In game two, Mid-Prairie jumped up early but couldn’t hold the lead in an 8-2 loss. In the second the Golden Hawks got to Durant starter Jake Benishek for a run when Alex Watson drove in Jared Miller on a single. Durant tied things with a single run in the fourth, took the lead with a tally in the fifth and then poured on the insurance scoring three runs in the sixth as they chased Golden Hawk starter Derek Rich, and then the Wildcats added three more runs in the seventh against reliever Jacob Leonard. Rich took the loss for the Hawks, he went 5 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs, walking one and striking out two. At the plate Mid-Prairie was led by Watson with a hit and an RBI.
Mid-Prairie is now 1-1 on the year and travels to West Liberty Thursday.
