The librarians at the Wellman Scofield Public Library are excited to announce their new summer reading program. In the past, the program was four weeks long and included a required reading list. This year, in honor of Wellman’s 100th anniversary, the WSPL has decided to make some big changes. The program, called “Ready, Set, READ!” will now run for eight weeks, and the required reading has been replaced by a reading log with goals based on grade level. Each week, the participants will earn a reading reward prize and be entered into a grand prize drawing at the end of the program. Additionally, participants can look forward to a craft or movie day on Tuesdays, story time on Wednesdays, and special activities on Thursdays.

An open skate event at the Wellman Skating Rink will be on June 3rd from 1-3 p.m. to kick everything off. The program will finish with a picnic in the park, where the grand prizes will be given out. Those wishing to sign up can get a registration form from the library or its website.
