Washington Community Schools received nearly $85,000 at Wednesday’s spring grant distribution ceremony held by the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. President of the foundation, Mike Driscoll announced the first grant of the evening for the Washington Music Boosters for $14,836 to help replace instruments. He added they’ve been beating on the same drums for over 45 years. The high school is purchasing a set of new timpani for the band and a Clavinova for the choir.
Washington schools also received $70,000 to help fund their project to replace the home bleachers at Case Field. The new bleachers will be handicap accessible. In total the Riverboat Foundation awarded almost $800,000 Wednesday evening.
