One 18-hole event stands in the way of the Washington Demon boys’ golf team and a spot in this year’s Class 3A State Golf Tournament. Washington is traveling to the Amana Colonies Golf Course today for the district tournament and will compete against golfers from Benton, Keokuk, Mount Vernon, and Vinton-Shellsburg.
The Demons opened up the postseason Friday at the sectional tournament at Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington. Washington had the second lowest team score of 327, advancing to the district round along with sectional champion Keokuk. Demon sophomore Dalton Myers carded the fourth best sectional round at 80 strokes.
To qualify for state, the Demons must finish in the top two of the team standings. An individual can qualify for state by placing in the top four. Tee time is set for 10 a.m. at the Amana Colonies Golf Course.
