The technology staff at Washington Community Schools has kept busy over the last year and have a full schedule ahead of them this summer. Technology Director for the District Jeff Brock told the Washington School Board Wednesday that this year they replaced the lock systems at the high school and middle school to increase security and get the entire district on one system, also Lincoln Elementary is now nearly 1:1 with Chromebooks.

Over 2,000 bulbs have been upgraded to LEDs starting with the bus barn, Central Office and Lincoln. The LED upgrades has a rough estimate of $10,000 in savings. The auxiliary gym is next on the schedule to have the lighting upgraded, which Brock added will take away the buzzing sound.

He added he’s been involved in meetings and plans for the auditorium and Stewart Elementary’s addition. The Fiscal Year 2017 technology plan was approved by the board.
