The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls track team’s participated at WACO’s Ekstrand Relays on Thursday night in Wayland.
The IMS boys finished 13th overall out of 14 teams with their score of 34 points. Central Lee won the meet with 148 points. The IMS boys got points from Drake Brezina who brought home one of the team’s two championships on the night, taking the 400m with a time of 54.23 seconds. Brezina finished runner up in the long jump with his leap of 19’1.50″. He also finished third in the 200 with a time of 25.02 seconds. Levi Geyer was also a champion for the IMS boys on Thursday, taking the 3200m run with a time of 11:01.96.
On the girls side of the event Iowa Mennonite finished 10th out of 14 teams with their score of 58 points. Washington won the team championship with their score of 151 points. IMS got points on the night from Suzanna Yoder who finished runner up in the long jump with her leap of 14’9.50″. Yoder was also fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.47 and sixth in the 200 with a time of 29.10 seconds. Rubye Ney finished second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.64, she also scored in the 400m hurdles, finishing third with a time of 1:13.03. Emma Beachy was runner up in the discus with her throw of 87’10”. Rachel Miller took fifth in the 100 hurdles in 18 seconds flat and also finished fifth in the long jump, flying 14’1.75″. Avery Blauvelt was third in the 3000m run with a time of 14:00.82 and sixth in the 1500 with a time of 6:13.72. Calli Shaw was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:07.83.
