Hydrants will soon be flushed in Washington. Maintenance and Construction Superintendent JJ Bell has announced that the City of Washington Maintenance and Construction Department will begin fire hydrant flushing on April 25th. During the flushing process, residents may experience a loss of water pressure, discoloration or rust. He adds the process usually takes seven to eight working days to complete but with extra hydrants and checking the pressure on the hydrants the work could take an extra day this year.

Any questions may be directed to the city’s maintenance and construction department, 653-2947.
