Shots kept finding the back of the net Tuesday for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls’ soccer team (1-1 overall).The Hawks made the short drive to Washington, facing off against the Demons (0-3 overall) in a non-conference showdown at Washington High School. Mid-Prairie has six shots find the back of the net in the first half, assisting the Golden Hawks to a 9-1 victory.

Sophomore Addison Rath recorded a hat trick in the first half hour of the contest, scoring goals in the seventh, 20th, and 28th minutes. Senior Jenna Boller also record two first half goals in the victory.

Washington’s only scoring came in the second half. In the 53rd minute, junior Jessie Bucholz found the back of the net off a cross pass from senior Kristen Barber.

The win evens Mid-Prairie’s overall record at 1-1 while the loss sinks Washington to 0-3. The Golden Hawks and Demons return to the pitch today. Mid-Prairie will host the Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union Wildcats (1-1 overall). The Demons travel to Fairfield to open the Southeast Conference season versus the No. 14 Trojans (2-0 overall).
