Influenza remains widespread in Iowa at this time. According to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network, influenza is minimal in Iowa. The State Hygienic Laboratory confirmed 24 cases on influenza A and four cases of influenza B, also there were 34 influenza-related hospitalizations reported from sentinel hospitals. So far this flu season there have been 20 influenza-associated mortality cases in the state. In this reporting week, there were 34 reports of rhinovirus or enterovirus and three parainfluenza virus type 1 in the state.
