The Fiscal Year 2016-2017 budget for Washington County was approved by the board of supervisors at their meeting Tuesday morning. Cyndie Sinn, IT Director, explained the county is levying for just over 4% more in property tax dollars. The county’s total taxable values are up 6.81%. This resulted in the total county levy rates being down 4.08%. County Treasurer Jeff Garrett explains exactly how this impacts property owners depends on a variety of factors including whether a property is rural or urban, the state rollbacks, and more. The county’s total valuations are up 5.72%.
