Repairs to the street sweeper and city wells were discussed at Tuesday’s Washington City Council meeting. City employees explained that while trying to fix a known problem on the street sweeper they found another part that needed replaced. The council approved the repairs and depending on when the parts arrive, the street sweeper may be up and running as soon as Friday.
Chad McCleary with the water department, explained Well #7 failed late last week and crews worked to get Well #6 operational, which had been slated for upgrades after issues in the fall. McCleary said they were in dire straights when the well failed last week and he was worried the city was going to run out of water. The cost of the emergency fix is not yet finalized and the city is going to consider upgrading Well #7 first. In addition, the council Tuesday sold 2009 General Obligation Bonds to receive lower interest rates and save money for the City.
