A new hire of a jailer was approved at this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting and the current need for staff was discussed. Chief Deputy Jared Schneider said there is one full time position open and some part time positions open. He explained they don’t plan on filling the full time position at this time because the jail’s population is currently low. They are still looking for female applicants. To apply people must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
Last March, the board of supervisors approved an increase in pay rates for jailers in Washington County to be competitive with the area. The new part time hire approved this week will start at $15.13 per hour.
