While the entire squad is competing for a state title today, four members of the No. 7 Washington Demon wrestling team will spend the rest of the week vying for an individual state title.

The Demons fighting for an individual state championship include: Andrew Waite (JR; 126), Austin Hazelett (JR; 138), Trey Van Weelden (JR; 152), and Tristan Westphal-Edwards (FR; 160). Waite (34-12 overall) is slated to open up against Solon junior Ben Carr (40-8 overall) in the 126 pound weight division. Van Weelden (45-2 overall) begins against Central Decatur’s Kade Kelso (47-10 overall). Hazelett’s debut at the state tournament starts with a bout against Clear Lake’s Ryan Leisure (43-1 overall).
