The Washington wrestling team and area individual wrestlers are advancing to the state tournament this week. Last Tuesday, Washington’s team secured a spot in the state dual tournament with wins over West Liberty and Williamsburg. They’re now set to wrestle at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines three times throughout the day Wednesday, you can hear it live on air on KCII Radio starting with their first competition at 9 a.m.

Over the weekend, Washington also had four individuals qualify for the state meet. The Demons advancing to the individual state meet include Andrew Waite, Austin Hazelett, Trey Van Weelden and Tristan Westphal-Edwards.

Mid-Prairie has Duncan McCain and Levi Duwa making a trip to Wells Fargo as well.

Other area wrestlers set to compete at the state individual meet are Highland’s Bryce West and Drew West; Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union’s Josh Keller and Tucker Morrison; Sigourney/Keota’s Luke House, Lane Boender, Noah Boender and Kaleb Reeves; and Cody Crawford of WACO.
