The Iowa Music Project, a not for profit which supports live music in the state is sponsoring a songwriting showcase. The group will select 15 songs by artists from Iowa for a compilation record. The record will be recorded at Flat Black Studios in Lone Tree. Director of the Iowa Music Project, Luke Benson says, many areas are known to have a unique sound and his goal is to find out what Iowa’s sound is.

The album was funded through a grant from the Iowa Arts Council for $8,700. Benson says he hopes the album will be out in October. For more from Benson listen to today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa.
