A presentation of the southeast sanitary sewer basin in Washington was given at this week’s Washington City Council meeting. Steve Soupir with FOX Engineering explained they did smoke testing throughout the area and documented their results. He said they found 56 structures that did not vent, eight manholes, 25 storm sewer structures, four ground areas and two radon pipes, among others where smoke was visible. They will further investigate places where the smoke was found, as that shows areas where there is potential inflow and infiltration. The city has about a week and a half left of televising the pipes. The engineering firm will then review the televising data, and review mapping and city records. Also, dye testing can be conducted if needed.
