The annual tax season begins today. The Internal Revenue Service announced the tax season starts January 19th and the last day to submit tax returns this year is April 18th. Individual electronic returns are now being accepted. Last year, according to the Iowa Department of Revenue, 90 percent of Iowans filed their income tax return electronically.
The IRS expects more than 150 million individual returns this year across the country, with more than 80 percent being prepared using tax return software and e-filed.
