With temperatures in the single digits, a dog was rescued by county roads personnel in rural Washington County Monday morning. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a chocolate lab was stuck in a drainage tube on Tulip Avenue near Ainsworth and the owners requested assistance. Sheriff’s personnel and county roads crews responded to assist and were able to free the Labrador retriever named Cali. Riverside Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene but disregarded as the dog was freed before they arrived. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius tells KCII News the dog belonged to one of the secondary roads employees and seems to be doing well.
