With winter weather in the forecast this week, now is the time to make sure you are ready for the seemingly relentless cold. Dressing in layers and staying dry is very important if you must go outside. It is also recommended to cover all extremities such as hands and feet with warm water resistant clothing such as gloves and boots. If you must drive somewhere a survival kit is recommended. Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator, Larry Smith tells KCII News, to pack jumper cables, blankets, kitty litter, candles, matches, a flashlight with extra batteries, high calorie non-perishable foods and a first-aid kit in each vehicle. Stay tuned to KCII for road conditions and weather updates.
