An offensive explosion in the fourth quarter buried the Washington Demons boys’ basketball team (3-9 overall) Tuesday. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, Washington finished a stretch of three games in five nights away from home, traveling to West Liberty for a non-conference battle versus the Comets (5-5 overall). Washington gave up 24 points in the final quarter, falling 58-51 to West Liberty. The game featured 17 lead changes and was tied five times; the Demons entered the fourth quarter with a 38-34 lead.
Senior Derek Anding shook off early foul trouble to lead the Washington with 22 points. Seventeen of Anding’s points came after halftime. Junior Bryce Sinn and sophomore Dalton Myers chipped in six points a piece for Washington. The Demons are still searching for their first road win of the season, dropping their overall record to 3-9.
The Comets’ front court played a huge role in their fifth win of the season. Junior Noah Feldman poured in a game-best 28 points, scoring at least six points in every quarter. Senior Brady Smith added 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to propel West Liberty to victory.
The Demons won’t return to competition until next Tuesday, hosting the Davis County Mustangs (2-8 overall) in a non-conference contest.
