The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team remained perfect in River Valley Conference action sweeping a triangular Monday night at Iowa City Regina.

The Golden Hawks matched up first with the Tipton Tigers. Mid-Prairie rolled through Tipton to begin the night, winning the dual with the Tigers 53-15. The match of the dual came at 195lbs were No. 4 ranked Jordan Challis of Tipton met No. 7 ranked Visouth Peterschmidt of Mid-Prairie. Peterschmidt was able to grab an escape and hold off Challis for the 1-0 win. Also scoring wins in contested matches for the Hawks against the Tigers were Duncan McCain at 113lbs by major decision 12-2, Miles Burrows at 126lbs by fall, David Murry at 132lbs by fall, Ethan Danner at 160lbs by major decision 11-0, and Cameron Tolander at 182lbs by fall.

The nightcap was tight most of the way but Mid-Prairie was able to get by Regina 37-24. The match of the night came at 170lbs when Mid-Prairie’s Jason Tew squared off with Nick Milder of Regina, the match went to tiebreaking overtime and Milder was able to score an escape, and a point for locked hands to take a 3-1 win. Golden Hawks winning contested matches in the dual included David Murry at 132lbs with a 6-2 decision, Brent Foster at 145lbs by fall, Cameron Tolander at 182lbs by major decision 14-6, and Visouth Peterschmidt at 195lbs by fall.

With the sweep Mid-Prairie is now 8-1 on the year and 6-0 in the River Valley Conference. The Golden Hawks are back in action Thursday night when they return to Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman to host a key River Valley Conference triangular with West Branch and West Liberty.
