A former Brighton resident was killed in a semi wreck in southern Minnesota Monday afternoon. Thirty-eight year-old Johnathon Schadt, formerly of Brighton, was driving a semi west bound on Interstate 90 about 15 miles south of Rochester when his truck rear ended another semi driven by 30-year-old Brandon Peterson of Albert Lea, Minnesota. Sargent Troy Christianson of the Minnesota State Patrol tells KCII News, Schadt was pronounced dead at the scene and Peterson was taken to St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester with minor injuries. The accident was likely due to a traffic stoppage about a mile up the road from another semi accident according to Christianson. Road conditions were dry at the time of the wreck. Funeral services for Schadt are pending with the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.
