The Washington Public Library is getting involved in the hype for the new Star Wars film with upcoming programs. Debbie Stanton, director of the library, shares they will be showing Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope Friday at 6 p.m. for adults and teenagers. They’ll be using a program called Movie Chat, an app for smartphones and tablets that allow the user to text during the movie and comments appear on the bottom of the screen. The library will have some devices available for those who do not have their own.

A New Hope was the original Star Wars film; it debuted in 1977.

On Monday, they’re hosting a Star Wars Extravaganza for children in 3rd through 6th grades. There will be a variety of activities and games.

The next installment in the saga, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, hits theaters next weekend.
