The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team participated in Monday night’s Mid-Prairie boys basketball jamboree, matching up with Clear Creek Amana for the half game scrimmage.
IMS scored a come from behind 26-24 win. The Clippers raced out to a 15-3 start. IMS was able to settle in and chip away at the lead, cutting the deficit to single digits entering the second quarter. Iowa Mennonite found another gear with their full court pressure defense, frustrating the Clippers and scoring easy baskets, taking their first lead midway through the second quarter on a Cole Yoder layup. IMS was able to finish off the game with back to back defensive stops and free throws.
On the night IMS was led by Eli Gingerich with seven points, Nick Yutzy and Reggie Borntrager each added six. IMS is next in action Friday night when they host Mid-Prairie for a Hall of Pride game. IMS officially opens the season Tuesday when they host Wapello.
