A pair of Washington alums playing college football in northwest Missouri have been honored for their school work. Missouri Western fifth year senior Nic Williams, and fourth year junior Brock Kimball were two of 14 Griffon football players named to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll. To make the honor roll, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding the summer terms.

Mount Pleasant High School graduates and Mount Union natives Leonard Wester and Emmett Wester were also named to the MIAA Academic Honor roll. In fact, Leonard Wester earned an even more prestigious academic honor, receiving the MIAA Scholar Athlete award. The Scholar Athlete award is given to those with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above, have at least two terms of attendance at a member school, excluding summer terms, and are competing in a championship sport inside the conference.

The Missouri Western football team finished their 2015 season with a record of 6-5, their seventh consecutive winning season, and earned six or more wins for an 11th straight year.
