KCII News has learned more information about the knife incident that occurred Thursday in the Winfield-Mt. Union Schools.

W-MU Superintendent Jeff Maeder tells KCII there was never any threat to any student. He says the student apparently brought the knife from home after lunch. Maeder says the student was spotted shortly after entering the secondary building with the knife, when the student arrived on the third floor, he was followed into a bathroom by administrators, where the student surrendered the knife without resisting. The superintendent says the entire incident lasted around three minutes. School officials say they believe the student may have been just trying to get some attention.

Maeder says the incident was handled very well by his staff members.
