Saturday’s running of the Iowa High School Cross Country Championship saw several top 25 finishes for runners of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. The race took place at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
Highland senior Keiffer Sexton returned to Southeast Iowa with a medal as a top 10 finisher in the Class 1A field. He finished in fifth place, clocking a time of 17:00. Sexton improved three places from the 2014 race.
Columbus senior Josh Keller finished his high school cross country career among the top 15 runners in the Class 2A Field. Keller finished in 14th place with a time of 16:48. Keller cut a full minute of his state race time from 2014, placing 48th in last year’s Class 1A race.
Winfield Mount Union had two runners place in the top 25 in the Class 1A race. Wolves junior Gavin Bencze came in 17th place, running a time of 17:17. Bencze’s finish was five places better than his state finish last season. Senior Johnathan Quinn finished his high school cross country career as the 25th best performance in Fort Dodge, clocking a time of 17:32. Quinn finished 25 places higher than his 2014 run.
