The city of Hills has it’s first municipal water supply in the city’s history. The construction of the new municipal system was made possible by a loan through the state revolving fund program, half of the loan is forgivable. Total cost of the project was over $5 Million. The city had already established a municipal sewer system, however most homes in town had their own wells.
City Administrator Cathy Fitzmaurice-Hill says the new water plant and water tower went on line in July and the city is still in the process of connected some households to the new system. All homes in the city are expected to be connected to the new municipal water supply by the end of November. Fitzmaurice-Hill says the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
