The State of Iowa’s unemployment rate dropped slightly from 3.7 percent in August to 3.6 percent in September. Washington County’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 2.6 percent during that time period with 300 people unemployed. All of the counties surrounding Washington County have unemployment rates below 3.8 percent. The highest unemployment rate in September was 5.8 percent in Lee and Wapello counties.
