Southeast Iowa Super Conference rivals the Highland Huskies (18-12 overall) and Columbus Wildcats (6-21 overall) have seen each other three separate times this fall on the volleyball court. The two will meet one final time tonight with the winner advancing their season into next week.

The Highland Huskies have won the previous three meetings in straight sets. The Huskies beat the Wildcats for the first time on Sept 5, a 21-13, 21-13 victory in the Highland volleyball tournament.

The two squads met again on September 24th in Columbus Junction a part of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball tournament. Highland won that meeting as well in straight sets, 21-14, 21-3.

The final regular season meeting between the schools took place on October 6 in Columbus Junction. Highland took the match in straight sets, 25-11, 25-18, 25-10.

Highland’s Kelsey Hora recorded a total of 43 digs during the three matches with Columbus. Senior Brianna Davis smashed 19 kills, while sophomore Sydney Black collected five aces versus Columbus.

The winner of the match will advance to play the winless Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (0-27 overall) in the second round of the Class 2A Region 6. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Highland High School.
