The regional tournament for the WACO Warrior volleyball team (8-18 overall) begins tomorrow evening in Wayland. The Warriors will play their final match of the year at Bob Hilmer Court, hosting the English Valleys Bears (3-21 record) in the first round of the Class 1A Region 7 tournament.

WACO finished the regular season on a high note last week, defeating the Louisa Muscatine Falcons (0-27 overall) in the regular season finale, (25-17, 25-21, 25-13). Senior Cierra McArtor smashed 11 kills, recorded 11 digs, and was 12 for 12 serving in the final regular season home match. Senior Libby Skriver dug up a team-high 14 balls, and scored a team-high five aces in the victory.

The English Valleys Bears have won just three matches this season, all during tournament match play. Their last win came during the New London Volleyball tournament on October 3, a straight set victory over the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (21-13, 21-14).

Sophomore Audrey Grove leads the Bears with 70 kills, tops the team with 54 blocks, and is second on the squad with 11 aces. Sophomore Lexie Miller is the team’s leader in digs, digging up 127 balls.

The winner of the match will meet the winner of Notre Dame Nikes and the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves in the second round of Class 1A Region 7 tournament. First serve is set for 7 p.m. tomorrow evening at Bob Hilmer Court in Wayland.
