The best runners from the Southeast Conference will square off today at the Washington Golf and Country Club. Washington Community Schools is set to host the annual Southeast Conference meet this afternoon, inviting member schools Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk and Mount Pleasant to Washington’s nine hole golf course.

Washington senior Emme Keith looks to finish her conference cross country career as an all-conference runner. Keith finished last year’s race as the third fastest runner in conference, clocking a time of 16:23 during last year’s meet at Mount Pleasant High School. Keith ran the eighth fastest time at the Washington Cross Country Invitational last month, clocking a time of 20:20.

Demon junior Owen Horak will also compete for his second all-conference honor in two years. Horak finished last year’s race in eighth place, recording a time of 18:50 in Mount Pleasant. He ran the Washington Cross Country Invitational in 17:46, the 14th fastest time in the field.

First races of the Southeast Conference meet are set for 4 p.m. at Washington’s Golf and Country Club. Listen to KCII tomorrow morning for results from the meet.
